Our Story
A Taste of the Continent
Savanna Kitchen was born from a simple belief — that African cuisine deserves a seat at the world's finest tables.

From a market stall to Riverside Drive
Founder and head chef Amara Otieno grew up between her grandmother's coastal kitchen in Mombasa and the bustling produce markets of Nairobi. Those two worlds — the slow, spiced cooking of the coast and the energy of the city — shape everything we serve.
In 2018, she opened Savanna Kitchen with a small team and a wood-fired grill. Today, the restaurant is a destination for diners seeking a refined yet deeply rooted expression of African cooking, served in a room that feels at once grand and intimate.
We are still, at heart, a kitchen that cooks for people it cares about.
What Guides Us

We build relationships with farmers, fishers, and foragers across Kenya, choosing ingredients at their peak and paying fairly for them.
Craft
Old techniques meet new ones in our kitchen — open-fire grilling, slow braising, and house fermentation guide every plate.

Karibu means welcome. We want every guest to feel the warmth of a home, dressed in the polish of fine dining.
